Workshop


When you run a furniture reuse shop, there are inevitably items donated that have reached the end of their useful life and need to be repurposed. Our workshop focuses on using hand tools, a pole lathe and a shave horse to make beautiful items from this waste wood. They also work with green wood donated by Bristol's tree surgeons.

Young people learn to maintain the tools and build their woodworking skills.  There are lots of opportunities for problem solving, designing and creating things to use at home or sell in our shop.


This year, young people have made spoons, stools, a wormery, a spoon mule (a workbench for people who whittle spoons), and this beautiful chopping board:
